User Experience: When AI Starts Taking Control of Your Screen

The first time I launched Adept, the experience was quite striking: a standalone browser window popped up — not silently running code in the background — and I could actually see a virtual cursor moving, clicking, and text appearing character by character inside input fields. This transparency greatly eased my trust anxiety around AI’s black-box operation. The first task I gave it was to extract key clauses from a messy English email, open a contract template and fill in each clause one by one, then generate a Chinese summary and send it to DingTalk. ACT-1 showed remarkable robustness in understanding vague instructions; when encountering pop-ups or page loading delays, it would wait like a human rather than simply throwing an error. That said, it is noticeably slower than native RPA tools — each action carries a slight “thinking” pause — and its support for highly complex drag-and-drop design software is still in early stages.
